With the Oscars coming on tonight it got me thinking: what does Oscar night have in common with your Wedding Day? They both require beautiful gowns and a vigorous getting ready process. I have to admit, the bride getting ready is one of my favorite parts of shooting weddings. I swoon over the meticulously crafted dresses, the carefully picked out shoes and jewelry, and as the veil or head piece is positioned in the brides hair in the final minutes before she goes to meet her groom. It’s a climactic moment, yet peaceful all at the same time. There are so many emotions running through that room. Some of the heaviest being excitement and anxiousness. I always feel honored to be allowed into such a special start of our girl’s day. You’ll notice I use black and white a lot on these gorgeous shots. Something about it just suites that quiet moment before the ceremony. Enjoy these beautiful getting ready shots from over the years:
And this last one, and my show stopper, is from way back in the day when I shot with Kellie Kano Photography. Still one of my favorite wedding images I’ve ever taken, the beautiful, Mandy, getting ready:
